The ninth edition of the DonaTIC Awards continues. Last Monday, July 3, the deadline for submitting nominations, which could be proposed by the candidate herself or by any other person or institution, in one of the eight categories (Entrepreneur, Businesswoman, Professional, Academic/Researcher, Disseminator , Revelation, ICT Student and relevant initiatives) and of the two subcategories (within ICT Student, there is University and FP and within relevant initiatives, there is Business and Entity, Training Center or Institution).
In total, the Secretariat of Digital Policies of the Generalitat of Catalonia received eighty-six nominations, the highest number since the outbreak of the health emergency arising from Covid-19. Specifically, these are distributed as follows: 13 nominations for Entrepreneur, 6 nominations for Businesswoman, 9 nominations for Professional, 9 nominations for Academic/Researcher, 12 nominations for Disseminator, 4 nominations for Revelation, 14 nominations for ICT Student (4 at University and 10 at FP) and 19 candidacies for relevant initiatives (10 at Business and 9 at Entity). The aim of the DonaTIC Awards is to recognize and give visibility to the fundamental role of women in the professional, business and academic world of digital technologies and the CTEHM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Humanities and Mathematics) disciplines, as well as to offer female references contemporaries in these fields to children, adolescents and young people. Currently, the applications are being evaluated by a jury made up of professionals from the technology sector. Specifically, the evaluation consists of two parts: a first part in charge of the technical committee that selects a maximum of six semi-finalists for each of the categories and a second part in charge of the honor committee that is in charge of choosing the finalist nominations and the winning nomination for each category and subcategory.
Next Thursday, November 16, the awards ceremony for the ninth edition of the DonaTIC Awards will be held. This year, the Secretariat of Digital Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya wanted to coincide the successful event with the International Day of Women Entrepreneurs. The intention has been to influence the need to promote the empowerment, entrepreneurship and leadership of female talent and to ensure that women participate fully and on equal terms in the world of work. So, after 9 editions and 707 nominations, the DonaTIC Awards are consolidated as a reference in the recognition of the female role, as well as in the dissemination of the presence of women in information and communication technologies.
