The Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya held last Wednesday, November 27, the awards ceremony of the third edition of Catalunya Impacta, a recognition program for the best initiatives that value the transformative nature of new information technologies and communication about the economic fabric and the social fabric. Specifically, the three award-winning projects of the third edition of Catalunya Impacta have demonstrated the social and sustainable potential of new technologies and have agreed to promote the use of artificial intelligence and massive data for various tasks such as, for example, the monitoring of livestock processes, the reconstruction of marine ecosystems or the care and support of the elderly.

Specifically, within the third edition of Catalunya Impacta, in the category of the primary sector, the awarded project was 'Nealia' of the Vall Companys Group. The initiative consists of the implementation of various technological solutions on farms with the aim of monitoring data in real time such as, for example, humidity, temperature or water in silos. In the category of the industrial sector, the awarded project was 'Ocean Ecostructures'. The initiative consists of the design of biomimetic micro-reefs made with waste from the steel and agri-food industries to renaturalize marine environments. In the service sector category, the award-winning project was 'Athenea' from the Welfare and Development Association (ABD) and the company Momentum Analytics. The initiative consists of the distribution of a digital tablet that seeks to accompany the elderly to reduce the feeling of loneliness and try to improve well-being in homes.
