The Verificat initiative, a non-profit association that seeks to fight against misinformation and manipulation on the Internet and social networks, has presented Desfake, an innovative media and informational literacy proposal pioneering in Catalonia. The Desfake educational project focuses on developing students' ability to critically evaluate the information they receive through the Internet and especially social networks. Specifically, the proposal works on the ability to recognize reliable sources and to identify rigorous information, asking the right questions and making use of the necessary tools to act and to protect oneself against digital misinformation. In this framework, the Desfake educational project offers training and mentoring for teachers and face-to-face workshops for students in 3rd and 4th ESO, high school and training courses in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona taught by experts from the team of the Verificat initiative. It also offers didactic material to work independently in the classroom with the help of the teaching staff.
