With the desire to break with socio-digital gaps, the Catalan cooperative Colectic, with the support of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, is revitalizing the Code Club initiative . In 2014, the project began in Catalonia offering free programming courses for people in a vulnerable situation. This year, the initiative has kicked off a new edition and has begun the search for volunteers and spaces to host a Code Club. Specifically, the Code Clubs are free after-school technology and programming activities designed for children, teenagers and young people aged 9 to 13 and facilitated by volunteers, educators and collaborators who offer citizens a unique opportunity to learn in a fun way.
A Code Club can be implemented in school spaces and community spaces such as, for example, an ICT Point. In this regard, the requirements are to have a space with computers and an Internet connection, to gather a group of eight to twelve children and adolescents aged 9 to 13 with a desire to learn, to have the availability to organize weekly sessions during a quarter and designate a person responsible for the space to manage registrations and coordinate with the Code Club technical team. At the same time, from the technical team of Code Club, the necessary support will be offered to guarantee the success of the initiative at the ICT Point, including the training of the volunteers and the distribution of teaching materials for energize the programming sessions.
