Escuela Cívica is a consortium of several organizations working to support the public "to discover, develop and use technology for the common good." Specifically, they talk about "civic technologies", which are defined as "The use of Information and Communication Technology to empower the commitment and participation, in order to improve political systems."
During the month of July has launched its first initiative, a pilot project of participatory sessions spread throughout the month. In particular, there will be nine free sessions of three hours each, to be held in different spaces of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. On July 28 there will be a public celebration to present the results of this first experience.
They invite participants to rethink what it means to be a citizen in a society immersed in technology, giving a cross and critical vision of civic tech.
The consortium that promotes the pilot experience explain that this "is the product of collective intelligence." Their educational formats are generated by the diversity of experiences and views of people who are part of the consortium, but want to go further with ideas contributed by participants and create a more permanent project.
