In total, 180 ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training students from 20 educational centers in Catalunya participated, distributed in 30 teams tutored by various teachers and professionals.

The Escola Superior d’Enginyeries Industrial, Aeroespacial i Audiovisual de Terrassa (ESEIAAT) de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), with the support of the Secretaria de Polítiques Digitals of the Departament d’Empresa i Treball of the Generalitat de Catalunya, organized last saturday April 20 at the Lleida - Alguaire airport the state qualifying phase in Catalunya of the 'CanSat' competition. In total, 180 ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training students from 20 educational centers in Catalunya participated, distributed in 30 teams tutored by various teachers and professionals. Previously, the students had devoted time and talent to designing and building small satellites, about the size of a soda can.

The 'CanSat' competition is an annual competition promoted by the European Space Education Office (ESERO) of the European Space Agency (ESA), which consists of the design, construction and launch of small satellites. This year, the competition has reached its fourth edition with 98 teams registered from 50 educational centers in Catalunya. In this sense, the first edition had 14 teams, the second with 50 teams and the third with 70 teams. This year, after exceeding expectations, the 'CanSat' competition has established itself as one of the great events for the promotion of scientific and technological vocations. On May 16 and 17, in Murcia, the state final will take place and on June 20 and 21, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, the european final will take place.
