The Code Club (programming clubs) are a network of free activities managed by volunteers who want to offer children the opportunity to learn how to program. These activities are carried out in extracurricular hours, either at the same school, in a library, civic center or any place that has computers. Currently, there are more than 1350 Code Clubs distributed around the world. This movement has also reached our home and the Code Club Catalunya community already exists.
From this network they call for new clubs to be launched in Catalonia and offer two activities in Catalan so that they can begin to bring programming to boys and girls. Now is the ideal time to do it, since from October 7 to 22, the Europe Code Week is celebrated. It is an initiative that seeks to give visibility to programming, to show children, young people, adults and the elderly how to make their ideas come true through the code, demystify these abilities and bring together motivated people.
If you have people with programming, you can add to this movement by starting up your code club during the Europe Code Week. On the website of Code Club Catalunya you will find the two activities that you propose to be able to develop them in your center. They are projects with Scratch , one for creating a rock band and the other for making a video game about space.
You will find more information and follow them in this link. In addition, on Monday, October 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a webinar will be held to explain everything.
