Last Monday, July 10, Isma Monfort, facilitator of the Punt Òmnia PES La Mina , was part of the successful CS4ALL day, a collaborative hybrid training project to support educators, trainers and teaching staff who want to learn the Python language. In this sense, Monfort took part in the third round table of the CS4ALL day, where four interesting experiences of social organizations and leisure education were shared. Monfort elaborated on two educational robotics activities that he develops with children and young people aged 8 to 12 from Sant Adrià de Besòs: participation in the VEX IQ State Championship with the help of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the organization of the Robotics Day in the Street.
Monfort explained that among the challenges was the desire to arouse the motivation of children and young people, to be an inclusive space, to adapt to the realities of the neighborhood, to have the necessary resources, to devise strategies for maintain the children's and young people's desire and to coordinate the teams. Monfort also spoke about the results and highlighted the consolidation of educational robotics activities, participation in recognized competitions such as the VEX IQ State Championship and the organization of the Street Robotics Day. Also, Monfort announced that the participating team of Punt Òmnia PES La Mina had been the winning team of the last edition of the VEX IQ State Championship. In the same way, Monfort talked about learning and emphasized that working on robotics with children and young people was feasible and enriching, that everyone could be part of it, that it was essential to have references such as, for example, boys and girls from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya who collaborated with the activity, that it was important to put knowledge into practice through the game, that it was key to bet on the methodology of trial and error, and that the aim was to break with the taboo of university education.
Along these lines, the central objectives of the successful CS4ALL day were to present an innovative methodology for teaching computational skills with a K12 perspective that covers school stages from 6 to 18 years old, to meet and share with experts and local projects that work on computational skills in school and leisure education, and to encourage the debate between formal education and educational leisure on computational skills. Likewise, during the successful CS4ALL day, four experiences of public institutions were shared and two presentations by experts were offered.
