RoboCAT seeks to encourage free software and assembly robotics, as well as making robotic activities accessible and affordable to the educational and civic centers. It also aims to promote the knowledge of the cultural, artistic and natural heritage of Catalonia. For this reason, in each edition the field of RoboCAT is inspired by a person or place of the Catalan territory. In the 2018 edition, it will be inspired by the region of La Garrotxa.
The organization has already announced the dates of the tournaments to be held. They will be the following:
- April 7: Barcelona
- April 13: Camp de Tarragona
- April 14: Girona
- April 20: Lleida
- May 5: Great Final in Platja d'Aro
You can participate in teams of up to four members and a coach. Depending on age, you will participate in one of these three categories:
- Primary school: born between 2004 and 2008
- Secondary school: born between 2003 and 2000
- Adults: from the age of 18

This championship is organized by the association El Racó dels Robotaires, with the collaboration of the City Council of Platja d'Aro, the Diputació de Girona, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the FPdGi.
