Safer Internet Day has been celebrated in the European Union since 2004, and since then it has reached many countries around the world. This year it is celebrated on February 9 under the slogan 'Together for a better Internet', the leitmotif of this sensitizing and awareness-raising day.
Its objectives are:
- Promote a responsible, respectful, critical and creative use of new technologies
- To achieve a better Internet for all among all social and political actors.
- Spread a better, safe and respectful Internet for everyone.
- Help teachers and social workers in the pedagogical task of explaining the Internet
Proposals for the 2021 edition
From the Safe Internet program, this 2021 and under the slogan 'More digital and protected than ever', they want to talk about the current health situation and the digital tools that have become even more essential (teleworking, education for videoconferencing, online culture , Internet shopping, video calls to family and friends ...). This situation requires more protection and cybersecurity than ever.
They propose us, for educators and from the viewing of a video, class discussions and other activities related to privacy in the online environment and the possibility of being a victim of digital fraud (such as identity theft).
For families, they release a new story in the series dedicated to cybersecurity. The protagonist of this year is the hedgehog, who has a very big problem with the fashion game and a case of identity theft.
Regarding youth, and with the collaboration of Adolescents.cat, they have carried out a study to capture the reaction capacity of young people in cases of attempted digital fraud. We will release the results on February 9, coinciding with Safe Internet Day.
And for the public in general, they have prepared a decalogue on digital fraud to ensure that fewer and fewer people are affected by this practice. You can follow the development of #SID2021 on social networks using the tag they have created for this edition: #digitalsiprotegits and #diainternetsegura.
