These awards were born after the detection of a need for participants WSIS: Create an effective mechanism to evaluate and recognize individuals, governments, civil society, local agencies, regional and international research institutions and companies private leverage the power of ICT as a driver of sustainable development.
The contest is open to all stakeholders: organizations representing governments, the private sector, international and regional institutions, civil society and academia. You can submit a single project for each entity.

A group of experts will select the projects that will stage the popular vote, which will take place from 16 March to 15 April. The winning projects will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held in the framework of the WSIS Forum (held from 12 to 16 June in Geneva, Switzerland).
