For now, these are the literary recommendations for St. George's Day 2026:
1. 'Children are kings' by Delphine de Vigan.
The ICT Point of the Prudenci Bertrana Municipal Library proposes this book for adults. The book talks about networks and the overexposure of children. The ICT Point highlights the approach, where the mother is the addicted person and uses the children to achieve recognition on the networks, making you rethink many things.
2. 'Screens, don't let them dominate you!' by David Bassa and Marta Narberhaus.
The ICT Point of the Prudenci Bertrana Municipal Library proposes this book for children aged 10 to 12. The book is a practical guide to learning to navigate the digital world, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by technology, the digital universe and social networks in a more responsible, more conscious and safer way.
3. 'Disconnected' by Míriam Tirado and Joan Turu.
The ICT Point of the Prudenci Bertrana Municipal Library offers this book for children aged 5 to 6. The book tells the story of a family that must learn to manage and set limits on screen time and achieve a good relationship with it, as well as understand how addictive they are and reflect on the value of the real thing.
4. 'My girlfriend' by Francesc Miralles.
The ICT Point of the Cervelló Municipal Library proposes this book for young people. The book addresses, in a close and accessible way, the impact of artificial intelligence on the lives of young people. The author builds a story that combines emotion, mystery and technology, showing how artificial intelligence can influence personal relationships, the construction of personal identity and the way in which adolescents face loneliness, the desire and the need to fit into a new and increasingly complex world.
5. 'The ethics of robots' by Mark Coeckelbergh.
The ICT Point of the Cervelló Municipal Library proposes this book for adults. The book offers an informative, accessible and rigorous approach to the dilemmas that artificial intelligence poses in our society. The author invites the reader to reflect on how we should live together with robots and artificial intelligence systems and, above all, on what responsibilities correspond to us as human beings in the face of these emerging technologies that have arrived to transform everything.
6. 'Africa Blanch and the mystery of lost gravity' by Mireia Cigarrán.
Mireia Cigarrán, winner of the 2022 DonaTIC Entrepreneurship Award, proposes this book for children and adolescents aged 11 and over. The book 'Àfrica Blanch and the Mystery of Lost Gravity' by Mireia Cigarrán combines adventure, fantasy, history and science with the aim of awakening scientific curiosity, fostering a critical spirit and giving visibility to women role models. This is the first book in the collection, which presents curious, brave, active and protagonist girls and brings science closer to children and adolescents in a close, inspiring and accessible way. In a context in which the gender gap in STEM disciplines continues, the collection aims to become a useful tool to generate role models, open up imaginations and awaken vocations.
