"We have three main lines of work: employability, learning and community, and we address them through numerous proposals," explains Laura Herrero, facilitator of the Punt Òmnia Gornal. The Punt Òmnia Gornal, which is located at Avinguda Carmen Amaya, number 37, in the town of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, has a diverse audience, such as, for example, the elderly, adults, children, people with functional diversity and people with mental health issues. "The learning at the Punt TIC gives them autonomy, gives them security, empowers them and at the same time makes them feel better about themselves," points out Herrero.
One of the most successful activities of the Punt TIC mixes historical memory with technology. "This is a fully community project. It is very important that they can express themselves, that they can share. On Thursdays we meet and work on historical memory in a creative way. Now, for example, we are addressing retirement," explains Herrero. Through a podcast format, the participants address topics of interest and raise reflections. "The digital art project focuses on technological learning. We learn how to use a camera and edit photographs, but also how to access email or download files," says Herrero. Through photography, the participants delve deeper into the use of technology and learn about tools and resources and discover functionalities and opportunities within the digital world. "Technology often advances very quickly and leaves us out, even the dynamic people we are constantly training. When someone is left out, there is a grievance. "We, at Punt TIC, give them instruments, resources and strategies so that they can be incorporated into society," highlights Herrero.
The reception of the Punt TIC activities is very positive. "I've always been a little restless. When I retired, I found out that spaces like this existed and I approached them," shares user Dionisio Alfonso. "In these spaces, you can establish relationships with other people, share moments and learn many new things. We should never give up on acquiring new knowledge," adds user Jesús Herrero. "The Punt TIC is a very important door for us. Before, I always had to wait for my children to help me with online procedures. Now, I've become a lot more alert. We're older, but we're still here and we can learn about anything if they explain it to us in time and with care," concludes user Joana Soler.
