The Government of Catalonia has approved the draft law on fiscal, administrative, financial and public sector for the year 2016 at its meeting on 24 May. Regarding the chapter on administrative measures, the law incorporates new features that affect different sectors and issues such as security, urban planning, environmental management and water and transport, tourism and consumption, among others. A new feature is that it creates Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia.
The principal mission of the agency, which was created with a budget of 24.6 million euros in the period from 2016 to 2019, will be ensure and guarantee the security of electronic communications networks and information systems in the field the Government of Catalonia and the entire public sector, in collaboration with the police and judicial bodies. Its mission will also coordinate with the private sector to improve the safety standards of information technology with the public and government support for developing and implementing security plans in the field.
