The portal Nonprofit Tech for Good is in charge of preparing the report, which aims to gain a better understanding of how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) around the world use technology to communicate with their partners and donors.
The report collects data from organizations around the world relating to: websites, e-mail communications, fundraising tools and social networks. It does so through a survey, which is available online for a few months so that the stakeholders can respond.

Websites and blogs:
- 92% of organizations globally have a website.
- 38% regularly publishes content on a blog.

Social Networks:
- 92% of nonprofits have a Facebook page.
- 72% have a Twitter profile.
- 39% have a profile Instagram.

Effectiveness of social networks:
- 95% believe that social networks are effective at recognition entity.
- 80% recognize that social networks are effective to find volunteers.
- 78% believe that social networks are effective in promoting events.
- 88% believe that social networks are effective to generate social change.

Donations Online
- 67% of organizations accepting donations online.
- 71% recognize that social networks are effective in raising donations.
4,908 organizations from Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe and America responded to a survey in order to get the information for the report. The surveys were carried out between 1 August and 31 October 2016 and as vehicular languages they used English, French and Spanish. In fact, the report is also available in these three languages. The idea is to expand to Portuguese in the 2018 edition.
