Next Monday, September 28, the Barcelona Open Data Initiative will organize the celebration of its first ten years of history. Under the title 'The right to know: ten years of the value of data. From 'Why Open Data?' to 'How do we want to govern data?'' , the event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Espai Francesca Bonnemaison facilities. The celebration will highlight how data has come to play an increasingly central role in society, the importance of open data in the service of an informed citizenry and the future challenges facing its governance in a context of technological transformation. Thus, the event will defend the value of open data so that organized public information can be accessed, fair, representative and inclusive digital technologies can be developed, and the debate around privacy, digital rights and data sovereignty can be prioritized. Specifically, there will be a presentation by Alberto Abella, head of Gaia-X Hub Spain and co-founder of the entity. Barcelona Open Data Initiative, and a round table with the participation of Lourdes Muñoz, co-founder of the Barcelona Open Data Initiative and president of Dones en Xarxa; Mercè Crosas, director of Social Sciences and Computational Humanities at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center; Javier Creus, founder of Ideas for Change, and Montserrat Guardia, president of the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
