"We are at a crucial moment for the present and the future of our individual and collective life." Thus begins the "Manifesto for a new digital culture". The digital age raises new challenges, such as digital education, for both the children and the adults who have to adapt to the new reality. Liliana Arroyo and Jordi Jubany found each other on a training session for teachers by the end of 2017 and since then they have been immersed in reflections and debates on how to build a new digital culture that responds to these challenges. Now they have decided to grow this conversation and open it to all citizens. They have done so through the publication of a manifesto.
In the face of technological advances, they claim that it is necessary to draw a new map to interpret the world, which helps to weave a new social consensus. With the objective of reflecting, sharing and connecting people and entities to act from an ethical, reflective and informed positioning, the manifesto is based on 10 areas:
- Dynamic society
- Human rights
- Universal education
- Digital skills
- Identity management
- Professional development
- Collaborative culture
- Critical communication
- Conscious consumption
- Responsible use
It is not, however, a definitive and closed document, but quite the opposite. The authors present it as a living, dynamic and hackable manifesto: "It is version 0, a beta proposal that we want to offer you so we can talk and debate about it, so we can improve it and refine it among all. Let it evolve as they appear new challenges and needs".
