The idea and the text were extracted by participants of the Omnia point from the book 'El camí' by the writer Miguel Delibes , and seeks to pay tribute to its protagonists. The story explains the migration processes of young people from a small town in Castile, where the phenomenon of migration intensified in the second half of the 20th century, motivated by not only political-economic factors, but also social ones. Many Castilian farmers emigrated to the more developed regions of the country, such as Catalonia or Madrid. In the novel, published in 1950, the writer addresses this fact.
The podcast 'Historias y costumbres de otros tiempos' wants to be a tribute to the protagonists of the novel who migrated from their village to the city to study and left a void in their communities that is difficult to fill. Through the reading of different fragments of the book, they relate some of the issues raised by the book to the own history of the people participating in the point, who suffered the depopulation of their villages in the first person. "The situation in rural areas at that time was complex, because families had many sons and daughters but there were not enough means to live well, and people began to emigrate," explains one of the participants in the first chapter .
