Girona City Council has approved a new edition of the 'INTRO' project, which seeks to continue tackling the digital divide and improving the autonomy and employability of people with the most difficulties in developing in digital environments. The initiative continues the line of work started in 2021 and consolidates Girona City Council's commitment to ensuring that digitalisation does not become a new factor of inequality. Currently, having digital skills is increasingly necessary to look for work, access training, carry out online procedures and interact with public administrations. On a recurring basis, the ICT Point of the Municipal Employment Service of Girona City Council detects that some citizens still have difficulties in using digital tools with full autonomy. This situation affects people with little technological experience, low levels of training or vulnerable work histories.

In this context, the new edition of the 'INTRO' project will allow the Girona City Council's digital training, support and accompaniment actions to be grouped into a single program. The proposal will propose progressive itineraries adapted to the needs of each person, ranging from initial digital literacy to the acquisition and accreditation of more advanced digital skills. Specifically, between September and December, the ICT Point of the Municipal Employment Service of the Girona City Council will offer six training capsules applied to job searching. The sessions will address job searching on the Internet, the use of email, storing documents in the cloud, the digital curriculum and the cover letter. Likewise, the ICT Point will promote a new edition of the itinerary 'Lose your fear of the computer to find a job!', which will be aimed at people without previous digital knowledge. Also, this autumn, the ICT Point will teach the 'Basic Digital Skills 01' course, lasting sixty hours, and next year, the ICT Point will carry out the 'Basic Digital Skills 02' course and training to prepare for the official ACTIC tests.

At the same time, the ICT Point will incorporate a space to support online procedures , where citizens will receive support to carry out electronic procedures and learn to use digital services independently, and a job search point , which will provide various computer equipment and specialized support from expert professionals to look for work online, carry out digital procedures and promote employability.
