The SmartCAT Challenge is an initiative of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Cybersecurity and Digital Society of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In this second edition, entrepreneurs and citizens will create technological solutions to challenges of mobility and social inclusion.
Specifically, these are the competition challenges of social inclusion, co-organized by Tula del Tercer Sector in the framework of the project m4social:
- Architectural barriers: How can the city be easier to navigate for people with reduced mobility, people with sensory and cognitive disabilities, children and elderly people, pregnant women, etc.?
- Personal Resource Management: How can we help people to be more efficient in their consumption and better manage their resources?
- Collaborative culture: How can we foster a culture of collaboration, of sharing, to help individuals and/or entities of the third sector?
The challenges of mobility are:
- Urban mobility
- Mobility in tourist areas
- Mobility in industrial areas
The first step of this new edition will be Ideathon of social inclusion, which will take place on June 9 at 10:00 am in the Barcelona Mobile World Center. The Ideathon of mobility will be held June 17 in Barberà del Vallès.
These meetings will start a process of four months, during which the participants will have access to the online platform of incubation of Smart City Hack and will have mentors and technological resources that will guide them to transform their initial ideas in real projects.
The challenge will end with an online competition where the public and the jury will choose the best solutions to compete in the final, which will take place in the autumn of 2017. The best project from each theme will have the possibility of a pilot project within the framework of Catalonia SmartLab .
