The World Congress of Smart City Expo began in 2011 with a vision, which asked if smart initiatives could make cities more sustainable. We know that approximately two-thirds of the global population will live in urban areas by 2050. So, how can we face the impact?
This year, the 2019 congress will meet from 19 to 21 November more than 700 cities to reflect for three days on social inclusion , sustainability and citizen empowerment and is dedicated to promoting awareness and to invite the critical reflection on the Intelligent urban revolution and share with the world the work done so far and learn from other cities how we can continue building a committed future with the next generations.
Under the motto 'Cities made of dreams' , the 9th edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress will bring together new experts and leaders from the most innovative cities and organizations in the world to turn our cities into a better place.
The program will address all issues related to the development of cities and sustainability, and aspects related to technology and security, such as Big Data, blockchain, cybersecurity and data protection.
In addition, the congress includes the celebration of the World Smart City Awards , which seek to recognize pioneering projects, ideas and strategies that promote sustainable urban development around the world. Candidates from 54 countries with more than 450 resources have been submitted. Winning people will be announced on November 20 at the awards ceremony at the Smart City Expo World Congress.
