The Smart City Expo World Congress arrives this year at its seventh edition. It aims to be "the place to collectivize urban strength, increase the strength of cities, identify business opportunities, establish partnerships and contribute to enact common policies. A place to share research, good practices and common solutions, achieved through an efficient collaborative work".
It is the meeting point for governments, companies, entrepreneurs and research centers, where cities meet with other cities, show their projects and find new solutions and where companies do business. The 2016 edition hosted 16,688 attendees and 420 speakers from more than 600 cities, reaffirming itself as the leading global event for cities.
The registration is already open and there are different types of tickets.
Within the framework of the event, the World Smart City Awards are convened. There is also a call to present innovative solutions throughout the congress.
World Smart City Awards
In order to identify cities, projects and innovative ideas in line with the promotion of sustainable urban development around the world, within the framework of this congress, the World Smart City Awards are convened each year. The objective of these awards is to recognize, promote and support strategies, projects and ideas that are pioneering the city that can potentially change the lives of citizens, through their innovation, impact and viability, as well as stimulate Inclusive, equitable, safe, healthy and collaborative cities.
This call receives hundreds of proposals from key players from the smart city everywhere in the world every year. In the 2016 edition, for example, they received 259 applications from 45 participating countries.
The awards are addressed to both the public and the private sector and the proposals presented must be related to one of the issues of the 2017 edition:
- Governance
- Mobility
- Safe cities
- Economy
- Sustainability
- Circular economy
- Society
- Data and Technology
Proposals can be submitted until September 4th .
Call for Solutions
This call seeks solutions of inspired and innovative smart cities that can make a difference, including mobile market solutions, products or prototypes.
The winning solutions will be selected for their feasibility, impact and innovation levels by a technical expert committee, and will be shown in real time in two key areas of the congress: The Village, a new outdoor area; And at Àgora, a key point at the heart of the event.
The proposals will have to revolve around the topics of the congress and must be presented before September 4, 2017.
