The present work published by the Carolinas Foundation , carried out by researchers Trinidad Donoso-Vázquez , Sònia Estradé and Núria Vergés from the University of Barcelona, addresses, in the first place, the connection between the digital gender gap and intersectionality , understood as interaction. of power systems.
In this sense, it will present those factors that influence from childhood and adolescence in the interest in technology and in the perception of one's own abilities in front of them. It also analyzes the entry and permanence of students in higher education in science and technology , according to their gender characteristics, but also at their intersection with other dimensions such as social class, racialization or l sexual orientation. It then examines the serious difficulties in the technological work environment in incorporating, retaining and promoting women . Finally, proposals are offered to foster technological vocations and strategies are presented to end the digital gender gap.
