Last Thursday, April 27, the International Day of Girls in ICT was celebrated. The day sought to encourage technological vocations among girls from all over the world, as well as seek to influence the digital gender gap. April 21, 2011 was the first time that the International Day of Girls in ICT was celebrated at the initiative of the International Telecommunication Union, a specialized body of the United Nations. Since then, it has been commemorated annually on the fourth Thursday of April, where the day is used to promote gender equality and to make women's empowerment visible.
In this sense, from the General Directorate of Digital Society, a commemorative day was organized with presentations and workshops and with the participation of sixth grade students from Can Clos and Montessori schools. In this context, a live recording of a podcast conducted by Maria Garcia, Josefina Barreix and Mercè Riba of the Women in Aerospace-Barcelona Association was carried out interviewing Belén Alastruey, winner of the DonaTIC 2022 Award in the ICT university student category. Specifically, they talked about technological vocations, professional experiences, future challenges and the presence of women.
