Organized by the Xarxa Punt TIC Network and the Xarxa Òmnia, the joint day included sixteen good practice experiences and a successful talk by mathematician Carme Torras.

Last Thursday, October 24, the Xarxa Punt TIC Network and the Xarxa Òmnia organized a joint day at the Poblenou Campus of the Pompeu Fabra University. Under the title 'Social Internet Day: 25 years of digital inclusion in the Omni Network' , the event brought together more than a hundred and a half people in person and several dozen online and sought to give learn about initiatives and projects, promote the generation of synergies and links and promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences. The event began at 9:30 a.m. with the accreditation of the participants. Likewise, the two directorates-general took advantage of the reception of the participants to distribute various gifts such as the 'Més Digitales' game from the program of the Plan de Xoc against the Digital Divide of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Then, at 10 a.m., the institutional welcome was given by the director general of Digital Economy and Society, Sandra Ruiz Peralta. "Reducing the digital divide is not a goal, it's an obligation. We need an inclusive, democratic and equitable digital society", said Ruiz. Also, the Deputy Director General of Social Cooperation and Voluntary Affairs, Marc Viñas Artola, welcomed the participants. "From a social point of view, the Xarxa Òmnia continues because it is relevant, both for the social problem it wants to address and for the solution it provides", said Viñas. Next, a beautiful video tribute was shown on the 25 years of the Omnia Network and the great work done to promote digital inclusion throughout the territory.

Talk 'The ethics of artificial intelligence and social robotics'

The joint day of the Xarxa Punt TIC Network and the Xarxa Òmnia continued with the talk 'The ethics of artificial intelligence and social robotics' by the mathematician and expert in artificial intelligence and robotics Carme Torras. Torras reflected on the importance of studying the positive implications and negative implications of artificial intelligence and robotics for both people and society and shared several examples of how these two technologies can improve public services. Torras also highlighted the importance of regulation and ensuring guidelines and regulations that support data privacy, transparency, diversity, non-discrimination, environmental well-being and social responsibility. After the successful talk and before a refreshing coffee break, a nice family photo was taken in the central courtyard of the Pompeu Fabra University's Poblenou Campus. Afterwards, the participants were able to enjoy a joint breakfast, where new bonds and new alliances were forged.

Good practices of the Punt ICT Network and the Omnia Network

Then, several areas of good practice from the Xarxa Punt TIC and the Xarxa Òmnia were energized, which included the presentation of sixteen good practice experiences with the aim of highlighting and sharing proposals that are being developed in the territory, inspire and explore reproducibility. In the first round, community action, digital gaps and digital manufacturing were discussed. In the auditorium, the round table of Community Action was promoted with the participation of Mireia Monterde from Punt Òmnia Santa Coloma de Gramenet , Xevi Felip from Punt Òmnia Girona Est , Xavier Pérez and Moad Ezzamouni from Punt TIC La Florida - Les Planes and Marc Viñas from the General Directorate of Civic and Community Action , who shared reflections on the digital transformation and accompanying methodologies for the most vulnerable groups. In the nave room, the space for the exchange of ideas, projects and experiences around Digital Gaps was energized with Sofia Möller from the TIC Point of the Roca Umbert Library and Mabel Martín and Alberto Molinero from the Punt Òmnia Fundació Barberà Promoció , who explained their experiences of democratization of new technologies, preparation of training courses and support in carrying out procedures. In the conference room, the space for the exchange of ideas, projects and experiences around Digital Manufacturing was energized with Juan Manuel Montero and Alejandro Aliaga from the TIC Center Vista Alegre Civic Center (On Lab) and Joan Bassolas and Maria Luisa Garcia from Punt Òmnia Fundació Ciutat de Viladecans , who explained their experiences of promoting maker culture, digital talent and technological vocations.

In the second round, we talked about digital social innovation, tic families and gender perspective and intersectionality. In the nave room, the space for the exchange of ideas, projects and experiences around TIC Families was energized with Sílvia Hernández from the Punt Òmnia Camins Fundació and Daniel González from the Punt Òmnia AV Bachs – Bufalà , who explain their experiences to accompany families and educators, generate support networks and present alternatives. In the conference room, the space for the exchange of ideas, projects and experiences around the Perspective of Gender and Intersectionality was energized with Mercè Fort from the Santa Bárbara TIC Smartcentre Point and Cristina Sobrino from the Òmnia CPS Point Francesc Palau , who explained their experiences to break with gender stereotypes and work on the digital and technological training of caregivers.

The last part of the joint day of Xarxa Punt TIC and Xarxa Òmnia was dominated by laughter, laughter, applause and waves. The theater company Planeta Impro offered a funny dramatized story about the 25 years of the Xarxa Òmnia. Using phrases proposed by the participants such as 'I still can't get over the Intranet' or 'Clicking the left button twice is not the same as double clicking' and through improvisation, they represented three possible everyday situations linked to the day-to-day operations of the TIC Points and Omnia Points. Finally, the secretary of Social Affairs and Families of the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, Carolina Homar Cruz, closed the joint day of the ICT Point Network and the Omnia Network. "We have a firm commitment so that citizens can enjoy social services and welfare services and that they can do so by overcoming technological difficulties", concluded Homar.
