As part of the first cycle of digital arts, the city of Vic has promoted the exhibition of collective authorship and a critical view 'Artificial intelligence: this is not art', which has been open to visitors since last Friday October 6 and until last Friday October 27 at the ACVIC. Centre d’Arts Contemporànies., which is located at Carrer de Sant Francesc number 1 in the town of Vic. Created by Joan Soler-Adillon and Christian Penedès, the exhibition sought to encourage the creation of a space for debate. The exhibition was an experimental proposal that wanted to push creation to the limit using the new tools of generative artificial intelligence. The exhibition, which started from a thread that questioned the meeting point between the material world and the digital world, presented images and texts generated exclusively with artificial intelligence. Likewise, the exhibition has invited the public to interact with the contents and debate the current ethical limits.
"Artificial intelligence is the order of the day. For this reason, we decided to promote a workshop. As a result of the activity, this exhibition emerged. In the end, this sample wants several things. One of them is to question the impact that artificial intelligence has on creation and especially on artistic creation", explains Joan Soler-Adillon, artist and professor at the Open University of Catalonia. "The exhibition is part of a specialization and territorial competitiveness project called Osona Lab City and responds to one of the challenges set out in the project, that of opening spaces for critical reflection around of the impacts of digitization and the challenges of digital transformations, through experimentation and the methodologies of the citizen laboratory", comments Christian Penedès, digital social innovation technician at Vic City Council. "I've learned things that I suspected, such as that these tools have many biases and many limitations, and I managed to get the GPT chat to admit that it is based on data", points out Ileana Belfiore, a person participating in the workshop and in the exhibition.
